The Western Circuit

The Western Circuit

The Western Ghats or the Sahyadri (The Benevolent Mountains) is a mountain range that runs parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula, located entirely in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the eight “hottest hotspots” of biological diversity in the world. Also called as the Great Escarpment of India. The range runs north to south along the western edge of the Deccan Plateau and separates the plateau from a narrow coastal plain, called Konkan, along with the Arabian Sea. A total of thirty-nine properties including national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and reserve forests were designated as world heritage sites – twenty in Kerala, ten in Karnataka, five in Tamil Nadu and four in Maharashtra.

The Deccan Plateau is a large plateau in southern India. It rises to 100 meters (330 ft) in the north, and to more than 1,000 meters (3,300 ft) in the south, forming a raised triangle within the South-pointing triangle of the Indian subcontinent’s coastline. It extends over eight Indian states and encompasses a wide range of habitats, covering most of central and southern India. The plateau is located between two mountain ranges, the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats, each of which rises from its respective nearby coastal plain, and almost converge at the southern tip of India.

The Western Circuit, also called as the TWC is a Motoring/Biking Expedition which takes a parikrama around the entire Western Ghats climbing up the Deccan Plateau and traversing on the Plateau having an unparallel view of the Mountains and riding on the highest plateau in Southern India. This route is planned in such a way that one is continuously bombarded with views of varied landscapes, monuments, historical places, valleys and Hills, waterfalls and many more. Travel with Triumph Expeditions on the TWC to witness the rugged roads and the historical city of Hampi, a fun-filled day at Goa and the religious ride back on the West Coast Road.
