The itinerary is wonderful for it knows your wishes and your desires on what to see. Letâs have a look now.
The lively capital city of Kerala- Trivandrum reeks of both colonial essence and rich Keralian culture. This city was originally built upon the seven hills by travellers who came from far away via seas. It is now a charming place that still remembers its history and heritage. Beaches, majestic palaces, and temples make Trivandrum one of the most sought out tourist places in South India.
After we get to Trivandrum on this road trip to West Coast– we are going to do a bit of the important local sightseeing.
Kanyakumari or âThe Landâs endâ is a quaint coastal town located at the end of Tamil Nadu. Offering viewed of two seas and an ocean- Kanyakumari has endless things to offer. The silver beaches, mountains, palm, and coconut trees are a treat to the human-eyes.
According to historical tales and legends, it is believed that Goddess Kumari performed austerity on this Vivekananda Memorial Rock. There is a ‘Dhyana Mandapam’ located beside to memorial, which serves as the meditation hall for the visitors to meditate.
Dedicated to the accomplished philosopher and poet Thiruvalluvar, this beautiful statue finds itself on a small island near Kanyakumari. Thiruvalluvar was the author of a legendary work in the world of Literature.
Kumari Amman Temple is one place in Kanyakumari with a lot of cultural significance in Kanyakumari. This magnificent temple is situated on the coast surmounting the beach and thousands of vacationers come here.
The Queen of the Arabian Sea- Cochin is a perfect amalgamation of the past and the present. You can see it beautifully portraying the industrial and financial aspects of Kerala. At the same time, it wonderfully showcases the rich heritage of Godâs Own Country too.
Forts, palaces, museums, art galleries, shrines, and temples- Cochin has to offer everything. Also, if you want to catch some amazing Kathakali and Kalarippayattu performances- Cochin is the ideal place to do that!
The cosmopolitan town of Cochin has a lot to offer to the tourists. Ernakulum, Jew Town, and Fort Kochi are some of the top sights to check out in Cochin. You can also find a lot of palaces, beaches, temples, and heritage to explore and check out here.
Calicut is the ideal place to experience the essence of Kerala. A colonial city- Kozhikode which was previously known as Calicut screams out the different sides of Kerala that you have never seen before. It is historically the trade centre that dealt in carrying out cotton and spice trades with traders from all over the world. It also happens to be an alluring town set amidst the sea on one side and the hills on the other. The Arabian sea and the Wayanad hills indeed make it one of the most appealing places in Kerala.
Mangalore is perfectly sandwiched between the beautiful hills of Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. It is slowly gaining a lot of attention and is on its way to commercialization. But, you can find calm in its city life. Shopping and trying out Mangalorean food is a must.
The Kudroli Temple, Mangaladevi temple, Someshwara beach, Panambur beach, Tannirbavi Beach, and PilikulaNisargadhama are some of the Mangalorean attractions you must check out on this road trip to Karnataka.
Now, we will be heading towards Karwar. But, we are going to make a few stops, and explore some of the best places on this road trip to West Coast.
Murudeshwar is home to the second tallest statue of Lord Shiva (123 ft) in the world. With the shimmering Arabian Sea on three sides and the magnificent Western Ghats imposing their presence on this town, it is a favorite picnic spot for the folks from Kerala and Karnataka.
With its pristine beaches and breathtaking landscapes, Gokarna is a Hindu pilgrimage town in Karnataka and a newly found hub for beach lovers and hippies.
With beautifully carved ancient temples, laidback beaches, and unexplored forests,Udupi is one of the most alluring places on this road trip to the West Coast. Also, the temple culture is amazing here.
Lying on the western coast, Goa is India’s smallest state and unlike any other, known for its endless beaches, stellar nightlife, eclectic seafood, world-heritage listed architecture. Goa is something that everyone wants to visit at least once in his/her life.
The Goans are quite friendly towards tourists and celebrate many festivals throughout the year, the most famous being the New Year and Goa Carnival. While the seafood is excellent, Goa has one of the best nightlife in India with trendy bars, beach shacks, and elegant cafes.
It has some of the most stunning Indian beaches. While Baga and Calangute are more popular among the Indian family crowd, Anjuna and Arambol draw a lot of foreign tourists.
Dudhsagar waterfalls are such a view that is bound to take your breath away. Falling from a height of 1017 m, it is also known as the âsea of milkâ. The trek is an attractive one but you can also take a train ride under the waterfalls.
This marks the end of our remarkable road trip on West Coast. We will drive back to Goa and catch a flight back home with a heavy heart.
