The Vijayanagara dynasty can be credited for constructing some breathtaking structures in the state like Srisailam and Lepakshi temples. A road trip in Andhra Pradesh will leave you completely mesmerized.
Experience the whole of Andhra Pradesh in these couple of days. Let us take a look at what we have in store customized specially for you!
Being one of the oldest port cities of India, Visakhapatnam is known for its picturesque beaches and serene landscape, as well as a rich cultural past. Vizag is dotted with many beaches along its coastline, with the most famous one being Yarada Beach. It has beautiful scenery with hills on three of its sides and the Bay of Bengal on the fourth.
The scenes and scenery all make Visakhapatnam an ideal place to start this road trip in Andhra Pradesh.
Today is the day we spend exploring Visakhapatnam on this road trip in Andhra Pradesh.
Kailasagiri is a hilltop park in the city of Vishakhapatnam. The hill is at 360 feet and it overlooks beaches, forests & the city of Vishakhapatnam. The place offers plenty of leisure activities which is also one of the reasons for people visiting the place. For small children, the circular train is there for fun and enjoyment.
Submarine Museum is located in Visakhapatnam in the south-eastern state of India. The museum is inside an actual submarine, INS Kurusura, which was India’s 5th submarine. The museum is situated on RK beach, near the War Memorial in Visakhapatnam.
The Dolphin’s nose seems to be protruding out towards the Bay of Bengal giving it a rather fascinating look. A renowned powerful lighthouse highly useful for the shippers and has a light beam that can be seen as far as 64 km out at sea is also placed nearby.
Also known as the City of Victory, Vizianagaram fort is an ideal spot for history lovers. Steeped by a glorious past, the region is known to be strongly linked with a rich history of Kalinga. The land of the city has also been witness to a war between the French and English.
Breath taking hilly terrain, beautiful landscape, semi-evergreen moist deciduous forests, and wild fauna of the Borra Caves are a visual feast. Borra Caves are deemed to be among the largest in the country. They are karstic limestone structures extending to a depth of 80 m and are considered to be the deepest cave in India.
After driving for 180 kilometres through the scenic roads, we reach Araku to explore it on this road trip in Andhra Pradesh.
Araku Valley is a hill station replete with gushing waterfalls, crystal clear streams, lush green gardens, and some challenging trekking trails. This valley is also home to a few tribal caves and the Museum of Tribal Arts, which are an experience in their own right. This destination is quite famous for its exquisite coffee, whose subtle aroma will have you craving for a cuppa.
We experience an exquisite 240 kilometres drive to Kakinada through the mist on this road trip in Andhra Pradesh.
Apart from being a commercial centre, Kakinada is also blessed with several places of worship included temples, churches, and mosques, some representing relics of the rich cultural heritage while others being the shadow of colonial rule.
20 km away from Kakinada, this wildlife sanctuary is spread across 235 square kilometres. There are wide wooden bridges built through the dense forest lands that allow you to walk through the forest looking at Flora and Fauna. Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary is famous and well-known for its saltwater crocodiles and various salt-tolerant species of flora like Avincinia, Rhizophora, and many more.
Manginapudi beach is a beautiful natural beach that is unique for its black soil and also a natural bay comprising shallow water levels. Apart from that, the beach also attracts huge crowds during the Maghapoornami festival when people come here to take a dip in seawater.
On this road trip in Andhra Pradesh, we make our way to Machilipatnam after a 200-kilometre journey.
Vijayawada is an amalgamation of the old world and the new. Just like it is adorned with old temples and monuments, you can also find shopping centres and parks.
Kondaveedu Fort is a historically significant ancient hill fortress located in Kondaveedu. Kondaveedu Fort was constructed by Prolaya Vema Reddi. It was used as the capital by the Reddi dynasty between 1328 and 1482. The interior has extensive ruins of magazines and storehouses.
A sight of sheer beauty and excellence, Ethipothala Waterfall serves as another major attraction of the town. One can also enjoy watching a crocodile breeding centre at the site offering splendid sights. Once the waterfalls into the lagoon, it joins the Krishna River.
We take a mesmerizing 250-kilometre drive to the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam on this road trip in Andhra Pradesh.
Nagarjuna Sagar Dam which was constructed between 1955 and 1967 is truly an impressive structure to visit.
The Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is the most celebrated in the town and the main temple of Srisailam. The walls and pillars of the temples are also adorned with beautiful carvings and sculptures. One of the most beautiful temples of the town, this is the one sacred structure, located on the Nallamala hills.
Here we take a 180 kilometers drive and halt at Sri Sailam after exploring.
Konda Reddy Fort continues to be one of the highlights of the town and has been a landmark for Kurnool for ages. The modest-looking structure once housed a tunnel that passed from under the Tungabhadra river and still holds a majestic watchtower, looking over to the city that grew around it.
The drive to Mantralayam via beautiful roads will soothe your soul. In the end, you will feel like 280 kilometres is too little to take in the gorgeous views.
Mantralayam is known for Sri Guru Raghavendra Swami, a saint who entered into a samadhi alive in front of his disciples in the 17th Century. The main attraction here is the Temple and Mutt “complex.” The temple elephants and chariots carrying the deity around the temple on special occasions is a spectacular sight, while the Tungabhadra river is also worth seeing.
Yaganti is famous for its temple of Sri Yagantiswamy, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The magnificent temple commands high reverence not only because of its religious significance but also because it has many striking and unusual features.
We then drive to Gandikota which is just a 250-kilometre route. Drives as amazing as these make the road trip in Andhra Pradesh extra special.
Endearingly known as the ‘Grand Canyon of India’, Gandikota is a quaint village on this road trip in Andhra Pradesh. The narrow valleys with streams running between them and the steep rocky walls to give them company remind one of the renowned Grand Canyon in Arizona.
Here you can enjoy the adventure activities like Rock Climbing ,Rappelling , Camping, Kayaking, ATV Ride etc.
Lepakshi Temple is a paragon of excellent architecture and art. It is famous for its architecture characterized by hanging pillars and cave chambers that can astound you. Another thing that makes the temple unique and a place to must visit is a footprint that is believed to be of Maa Sita.
After this visit, we will take a long ride of 300 kilometres to Bangalore Airport which will bring us to the end of this memorable road trip in Andhra Pradesh.
