The rocky column known as Rangaswamy Peak is located near Kotagiri, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. It is approximately 20 kilometres away from Kotagiri.
Rangaswamy Peak, which rises to a height of over 5,885 feet (1,794 metres) and can be seen from Kodanad View Point, is situated at 11Β°27β²39β²β²N 76Β°59β²13β²β²E. The Irulas consider this to be the most sacred location since it is where the god Rangaswamy resides. It also goes by the name Rangabottu and holds an annual celebration celebrating fertility and the harvest. On December 13, 1950, a DC-3 Air India jet carrying statistician Abraham Wald crashed in this area.
