Clothing for Ladakh has to be in carried in layers. It is important that one wear the clothes one over the other in layers, so it is important that one does not pack all heavy clothes which are too tight. In Ladakh, as in any forest or high altitude mountains, the weather is highly unpredictable. Shade is cold and standing in the sun makes one warm. Temperature changes are dramatic and unpredictable, it depends on time of the day or the place. So the clothing has to be worn in layers so that one can wear it one over the other when feeling too cold and removing the layer as necessary if it is warm. Pack the regulars you wear, T-Shirts and Jeans, thermals, light woolens, windcheaters, and rain coat or waterproof jacket. If traveling in winter, one will have to pack a lot of heavy woolens.
